Late Rally Leads Men's Soccer Past Mesa
The Scottsdale men's soccer team scored four second half goals to lead them to a 4-3 win over Mesa tonight at SCC.
The win improves the Artichokes to 2-0 in the ACCAC and 2-1 overall.
Trailing 2-0 in the second after a 54th minute Thunderbirds goal, SCC had an impressive answer, netting three in seven minutes. Hayden Quest in the 55th, Alan Acosta in the 58th and Brodi Barone in the 62nd gave the Artichokes a 3-2 lead.
Mesa would find the equalizer in the 79th minute, but the score would not remain even for long. Jace Rojas set up Alexander Rojas two minutes later to give Scottsdale back the lead, one they would not relinquish.
Scottsdale outshot Mesa 21-9 in the contest. Mason Tumey had three saves in goal for SCC.
The Artichokes will now make the short trip to Phoenix College to play the No. 1 ranked Bears. That match will take place on Saturday, September 13 and begin at 8 p.m.
