Mesa Outlasts Scottsdale in 5-Setter
The #22 Scottsdale volleyball team dropped a close 3-2 decision to #10 Mesa tonight at MCC.
The Artichokes are now 6-3 overall this season and 3-2 in the conference.
Scottsdale led throughout the opening set to record a 25-18 win. The second set was tied at 15-15 before the Thunderbirds closed on 10-4 run to take the set 25-19. The Artichokes led early in the third 8-6, but Mesa would gain control for a 25-21 win and 2-1 lead in the match. SCC would push the match to a fifth set, winning a back and forth fourth set 26-24. MCC jumped out to an early five-point lead in the fifth set and held on to win it 15-11 to take the match.
Tanner Robinson had 22 kills, while Anissa El-Ali had 20. Robinson hit .222 for the match. Ella Petcu had 30 digs.
Scottsdale returns to the court on Monday, September 29 when they will host Ottawa JV at 7 p.m.
