Men's Soccer Blanks Pumas
The Scottsdale men's soccer team picked up a crucial 4-0 win over Paradise Valley tonight on the campus of SCC.
The win improves the Artichokes to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the ACCAC. At the midway point of the conference season, SCC is in fourth with 12 points. They are one point behind third place Glendale and four points ahead of fifth place Mesa. The top four schools will make the Region 1 playoffs.
Scottsdale led 2-0 at the half after goals from Dylan Nevarez (18') and Logan Hinzpeter (37'). Alan Acosta closed the door on the Pumas with a tally in the 81st minute. Justin Smith added a goal in the 89th minute. Landon Johnson made seven saves in recording the clean sheet.
Scottsdale outshot PV 21-9.
The Artichokes will next be on the road to face Chandler-Gilbert on Saturday, October 4 at 8 p.m. SCC beat CGCC 3-1 in their first meeting back on September 6.
