Men's Soccer Falls to No. 1 Phoenix in Region Semis
The No. 4 Scottsdale men's soccer fell 4-0 to No. 1 Phoenix today in the NJCAA Region I Division II semifinals at PC.
Scottsdale defended perfectly in the opening half against the top-ranked team in the nation. PC's lone goal came on a 30-yard shot in the 33rd minute. The Artichokes quickly fell behind in the second half after a Bears tally in the 50th minute. Scottsdale needed to chase the match from there but were unable to find a goal of their own. PC rounded things off with goals in the 68th and 86th minutes.
Mason Tumey started in goal for SCC and made eight saves.
Scottsdale's overall record finishes at 7-7-2.
Also, this week saw the announcement of the Region I, Division II honors. Scottsdale's Brodi Barone was named to the All-Region First Team. Teammate Hayden Quest was named to the All-Region Second Team. Gabriel Afigana and Dylan Nevarez were both Honorable Mention Selections.
