Scottsdale falls to Central in non-conference matchup
The Scottsdale women's basketball returned to action this weekend, dropping a hard-fought 67-60 non-conference decision to Central Arizona. It was the second time this season that Central defeated the Artichokes.
SCC falls to 8-5 overall this season.
Central led by as many as 14 in the second quarter but settled for a 37-28 lead at the break. SCC cut into that margin and trailed only 49-45 after three. Each side struggled to find points in the final quarter, with Scottsdale only getting five.
Each team shot 33.3% for the game from the floor. SCC was plagued by 29 turnovers. The Artichokes held a 43-37 edge on the boards.
Mariana Vega had a great game for Scottsdale, scoring 17 on 8-for-9 shooting. She also had eight rebounds. Mia Davis had 10.
Scottsdale will now be in league play the rest of the season, beginning on Wednesday, January 7 when they host South Mountain at 5:30 p.m.
