Late rally falls short for the Artichokes
The Scottsdale men's basketball team saw their late rally fall short in a 68-65 loss to South Mountain tonight at SCC.
The Artichokes drop to 9-7 overall and 3-2 in the league.
Scottsdale led early 15-9 before the Cougars went on a 9-0 run to lead 18-15. Davion Harris hit a three with 25 seconds left to give SCC a 34-33 lead at the break. South led by as many as 10 in the second before SCC rallied. Trailing 65-59 with 35 seconds to go, Conway Cummard scored on a driving layup to cut the deficit to four. McCade Peterson then stole the inbounds pass and threw it to Bryce Anderson who buried a three with 28 seconds left to cut the lead to just one. SCC had chances to tie or go ahead in the dying seconds but did not convert.
Coleman Fields led the Artichokes with 20, while Cummard added 11.
Scottsdale is next in action on Saturday, January 10 when they host Glendale at 4 p.m.
