#23 Women's Hoops drops contest to #12 Pima
#23 Scottsdale women's basketball dropped a 72-55 decision on the road tonight at #12 Pima.
The loss drops SCC to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in the league. The Artichokes and Aztecs have spilt the first two games of the three-game regular season series. They will meet at SCC on February 7.
Pima started quickly tonight taking a 10-3 lead early. Scottsdale rallied to finish the quarter on a 13-4 run to lead 16-14. The Aztecs outscored SCC 17-10 in the second to take a 31-26 advantage into the break. The two teams found the offensive flow in the third with Pima increasing their lead to 53-44. The Aztecs would grow their lead to 19 late in the fourth.
The Artichokes shot just 29% from the floor, compared to 45% for the Aztecs. SCC did force 24 Pima turnovers.
Mia Davis led SCC with 21 points and four rebounds. Savannah Helms added 12 points.
Scottsdale has a week off before hosting #6 Mesa on Wednesday, January 21. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. MCC defeated SCC 58-48 on December 6. It will be the only meeting at SCC this regular season.
