Women's Basketball fends off Phoenix for key conference win
The Scottsdale women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 64-59 victory over Phoenix College this afternoon at SCC.
Scottsdale is now 12-6 overall and 6-3 in the ACCAC. It was their second win in a row and fourth in their last five.
The Artichokes jumped out to a 16-4 lead early and would take a 22–15 lead after one. They extended the lead to 10 at the break - 36-26. PC halved the lead by outscoring SCC 15-10 in the third. The Bears would get within two on multiple occasions in the fourth, but the Artichokes would never relinquish the lead.
SCC was led by Mia Davis, who poured in a game-high 14 points and went 8-for-11 from the free-throw line, while Landin Kelley added 11 points. Davis also grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. The Artichokes capitalized on Phoenix turnovers, scoring 22 points off giveaways, and won the rebounding battle 35-26.
Scottsdale will seek their first true road game win of the season when they travel to Chandler-Gilbert on Wednesday, January 28. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
