Davis scores 22 in loss to Pima
#16 Scottsdale women's basketball and #11 Pima locked up in another tightly contested contest, with the Aztecs pulling away late to win 56-51 at SCC.
The Artichokes are now 15-7 overall and 9-4 in the ACCAC.
Pima led 14-11 after one quarter and increased their lead to 33-27 at the half. SCC outscored the Aztecs 15-9 in the third quarter to take a 42-41 lead into the final 10 minutes. The Artichokes grabbed a 51-47 lead with 4:27 left, but Pima would close the game on a 9-0 run.
SCC shot 27.8% for the game, compared to 39.6% for Pima. Scottsdale recorded 13 steals and held a 12-2 advantage on transition points.
Mia Davis carried the offense with 22 points on 9-for-17 shooting. She also had six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Vanessa Sepulveda and Savannah Helms each had eight points. Mariana Vega led the team with nine rebounds.
Scottsdale will next be in action on Saturday, February 14 when they visit #13 Mesa. Tipoff is 2 p.m. The pair has split their first two regular season contests.
