Softball splits at Glendale
Scottsdale ventured on the road and split a doubleheader at Glendale.
Game 1: Scottsdale 4 Glendale 1
The Artichokes struck early with two runs in the second inning, then added insurance in the seventh to pull away. Scottsdale finished with eight hits.
Hailey Estrella led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Elia Palencia drove in a pair, including a clutch double. Kadence Braden also doubled.
Abby Harrell (1-1) earned the win, allowing just one run over 4.0 innings. Kailyn Montoya tossed 3.0 scoreless frames, allowing only one hit.
Game 2: Glendale 5 Scottsdale 4
The Artichokes plated two runs in the first and added two more in the fourth to build a 4–2 advantage. Alma Teilon powered the offense with a two-run home run, while Elia Palencia doubled and drove in a run. Bella Gomez also recorded a double as Scottsdale recorded six hits.
Glendale chipped away late, scoring single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh to walk it off.
Tyler Gordanier (1-5) started and went 6.0 innings, allowing four runs, one earned, while striking out two.
SCC is now 7-10 overall and 5-7 in the conference. The game one win snapped a five-game losing streak. They will next host Chandler-Gilbert on Friday, February 27. Game one of the doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.
