Artichokes win sixth in a row with sweep of Mesa

Scottsdale won for the sixth-straight time after sweeping Mesa at SCC.

The Artichokes are now 15-12 overall and 11-9 in the conference.

Mesa opened the game with three runs in the top of the first, but Scottsdale answered immediately with a run in the bottom half before taking control with a three-run third and a four-run fourth inning.

Leading the offense was Alma Teilon, who went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, and six RBIs. Elia Palencia added a double and two RBIs.

Tyler Gordanier (5–6) earned the complete-game victory, allowing seven hits and five runs-just two earned-while striking out four over 7.0 innings.

Scottsdale jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding single runs in the second and third before breaking the game open with a five-run fourth.

Elena Esquivel led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance and two RBIs. Kadence Braden added two hits, including two doubles, while Hailey Estrella collected two hits and drove in two runs.

Kailyn Montoya (8–5) delivered a dominant outing, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out eight over 5.0 innings.

Scottsdale will be off until Saturday, March 21 when they will host Pima. First pitch for game one of the doubleheader is 12 p.m. (please keep and eye on the website for possible time change based on the weather on Saturday).
