SCC drops pair at South

Scottsdale softball dropped both games of a doubleheader at South Mountain today.

SCC is now 15-16 overall and 11-13 in the conference.

Game 1: South Mountain 4 Scottsdale 3

The Artichokes held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning before South Mountain rallied for three runs to tie the game and added the go-ahead run in the seventh.

Scottsdale scored in the second inning and extended its lead with a two-run sixth. Tati Solano led the way with two RBI, and Kadence Braden also added an RBI.

Tyler Gordanier (5-8) took the loss, allowing four runs (none earned) on nine hits over 6.2 innings while striking out four.

Game 2: South Mountain 10 Scottsdale 2 (5)

The Artichokes struck first with a run in the opening inning and added another in the fifth, but South Mountain used a seven-run fifth inning to pull away.

Alma Teilon led Scottsdale at the plate with a perfect 3-for-3 game, while Elia Palencia scored both runs and added a hit and a walk.

Abby Harrell (2-3) took the loss, tossing 4.2 innings.

SCC is set to host Glendale in a Saturday, March 28 doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.
