CGCC downs SCC; Burness named NJCAA DII Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Scottsdale baseball dropped an 11-6 decision to Chandler-Gilbert this afternoon at SCC.
The Artichokes dropped to 20-19 overall and 13-14 in the league.
After two scoreless innings, the Coyotes broke through with four runs in the third and four more in the fifth to build a 9-0 lead.
Scottsdale found its rhythm in the bottom of the fifth inning, plating three runs to get on the board. They would add three more in the eighth.
Luke Calendo led the offense with two hits, including a home run, while Logan Spetz drove in a team-high three runs with a home run. Braiden Reynolds and Carson Feddema each contributed doubles.
Braden Burness (3-6) took the loss, allowing four earned runs over 3.0 innings.
Scottsdale will look to bounce back tomorrow when the two clubs meet again, this time at Chandler-Gilbert. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
