Softball splits doubleheader with Glendale

Scottsdale softball split a doubleheader with Glendale on Saturday at SCC.

The Artichokes are now 16-17 overall and 12-14 in the ACCAC. They sit in fourth-place, two games ahead of Chandler-Gilbert. The top four teams qualify for the Region playoffs.

Game 1: Scottsdale 8 Glendale 7 (9)

Glendale built a 7-4 lead through six innings. Scottsdale responded with timely hitting, scoring three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game. The game remained tied entering extra innings before Scottsdale pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Alexandria Armstrong had two hits and drove in three runs. Alma Teilon added two RBIs. Jacee Larson had two hits and scored twice with an RBI.

Game 2: Glendale 8 Scottsdale 1

Glendale took control early and did not relinquish the lead in the victory. GCC scored three runs in the first inning and added single runs in the second, fifth, and sixth innings before closing with two runs in the seventh.

The Artichokes were limited to four hits in the game. Kadence Braden accounted for the lone run with a solo home run. Tati Solano and Elia Palencia each recorded a hit.

Tyler Gordanier (5-9) took the loss for Scottsdale, pitching all 7.0 innings.

The Artichokes will now travel to Chandler-Gilbert for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 31. First pitch for game one will be 5 p.m.
