Artichokes move into second with win over GCC
Scottsdale used a late offensive surge to defeat Glendale 7-4.
SCC is now 26-21 overall and 18-15 in the league. They are currently in second place, one game ahead of Glendale and Chandler-Gilbert.
Trailing early, the Artichokes chipped away at the deficit, highlighted by a two-run home run from Braiden Reynolds in the fifth inning. The game remained tight until the eighth, when Scottsdale broke through with four runs.
Brevin Matthews led the charge with a 2-for-3 performance and an RBI, while Braedan Reichert added a key RBI double and finished with a hit and RBI. Dylan Frank contributed two hits and an RBI, Logan Spetz went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
Scottsdale's bullpen delivered a strong performance, combining to shut out Glendale over the final five innings. Braden Burness tossed 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, and Carson Feddema earned the win with 2.0 shutout innings to close out the game.
The Artichokes will host South Mountain on Tuesday, April 14 at 3 p.m.
