Baseball continues strong play with win at Mesa

Scottsdale baseball used a big fifth inning to power past Mesa, 7-5, at MCC.

The Artichokes (28-22, 20-16) broke a 2–2 tie with four runs in the fifth, taking control after earlier trading runs with Mesa through the first four innings. Scottsdale added an insurance run in the eighth and held off a late push from Mesa, which scored three in the seventh.

Carson Feddema and Ryder Florence led the offense with two RBIs each, while Braedan Reichert added two hits and an RBI. Dylan Frank also chipped in two hits and stole two bases as SCC totaled 10 hits on the day.

Dalton Hanson improved to 6–1, allowing five runs (three earned) over 7.0 innings while striking out seven. Logan Spetz closed the door with 2.0 scoreless innings to earn his fourth save.

Scottsdale will next host Pima tomorrow, April 18 at 12 p.m.
