Softball swept in Tucson
Scottsdale softball was swept by Pima in a doubleheader in Tucson.
Game 1: Pima 7 Scottsdale 2
SCC struck first with a run in the opening inning and added another in the third, but Pima responded with a three-run third inning and pulled away with three more runs in the sixth to secure the win.
Jacee Larson and Elia Palencia each scored a run for the Artichokes, while Alma Teilon and Bella Gomez drove in the team's two RBIs. Alexandria Armstrong led the offense with two hits.
Tyler Gordanier (8-13) took the loss, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits over 6.0 innings, with three walks and three strikeouts.
Game 2: Pima 8 Scottsdale 3
Pima took control early with three runs in the first inning. Scottsdale (20-25, 16-20) answered with a three-run third to tie the game, but Pima regained the lead with three runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to pull away.
Alma Teilon and Bella Gomez each drove in a run for SCC, while Jacee Larson, Elia Palencia and Hailey Estrella accounted for the team's three runs scored. Alexandria Armstrong and Jazmyn Martinez each contributed a hit.
Kailyn Montoya started and went the distance on the Artichokes.
Scottsdale will next host South Mountain on Saturday, April 25. The doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.
